Puppies
A gentle first step into grooming for puppies who are still learning about the world. Puppy appointments are designed to help them get used to the environment, the process, and us in a calm, positive, and manageable way.
What you're basically paying for..
A lot of patience, calm handling, and the skill of making progress while working with the world's tiniest procrastinator.
What we actually do
When your puppy comes in, we start by giving them time to settle in and take in the space around them. For many puppies, this is just as important as the groom itself. They are not only getting used to the bath, dryer, brush, and table β they are also getting used to a new place, new people, new smells, and a whole new routine.
If it's their first visit with us, we recommend arriving around 10 minutes early so there is extra time to settle before we begin. We want their first experiences here to feel calm and familiar, not rushed or overwhelming.
The appointment itself usually follows the shape of an intro groom or mini groom, but at a much slower pace. Depending on what your puppy is ready for, that may include bathing, drying, brushing, tidy-up work, nails, handling, or simply learning how to stand, be touched safely, and take in the process without too much pressure.
We introduce each step slowly and steadily, with extra time for breaks where needed. Some puppies are happy to move through quite a lot in one visit, while others benefit from shorter, simpler sessions focused more on confidence than completion.
Before pick-up, we make sure your puppy leaves feeling as settled and comfortable as possible, even if the biggest success that day was simply having a calm and positive first experience.
Why we do what we do
Puppies learn quickly, and early grooming experiences can shape how they feel about grooming for a long time. By introducing everything slowly and positively, we help them build confidence with the environment, the handling, and the process itself.
We want our space to become familiar, safe, and enjoyable to come back to. A calm first few appointments can make future grooming easier, less stressful, and more comfortable for both the dog and the owner.
Calm starts before the groom
Puppies are very good at reading energy, so arriving calm and trusting that they are in safe hands really does help. If the humans around them are rushed, tense, or worried, puppies often feel that too.
Our philosophy is that calm energy matters. Puppies need patience at every step. If an appointment takes longer, it is often because we are slowing things down, taking breaks, and giving them the best chance of having a positive experience. That extra time is often where the real value is.
We recommend heading home and relaxing after drop-off rather than waiting outside. Please wait for a text before coming back for pick-up. Puppies remember the whole experience β the lead-up, the handover, the appointment itself, and the energy around pick-up too. Even once the groom is finished, it helps to keep things calm, speak softly, and let them come down from the experience gently.
Optional add-ons available
For puppies, a Day Stay can be a great add-on. It gives them extra time to settle, rest, toilet, and take in the environment at a slower pace between grooming steps. Other optional extras may be discussed where appropriate, but for puppy appointments the main focus is usually keeping the experience calm, positive, and manageable.
Who is this for?
This service is ideal for puppies who are new to grooming, puppies needing a gentle first introduction, and young dogs who need time to build confidence with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and being on the table.
Recommended breeds
Puppy appointments can suit any breed or mix. They are especially useful for puppies who will need regular grooming as they grow, including Cavoodles, Spoodles, Maltese crosses, Shih Tzus, Bichon types, Poodles, Schnauzers, and other dogs with coats that need ongoing maintenance.
Good to know
We recommend allowing extra time before and after a puppy appointment. More time usually adds more value, because it gives your puppy space to settle, process the experience, and leave on a calmer note. The goal is not always to complete everything in one visit. Sometimes the most important part of the appointment is simply helping your puppy feel safe, calm, and ready to come back again.
